   journal
The place to record your day-to-day observations, thoughts and ideas is the
Journal. Think of it as a diary for each plant. Moving a plant to a different location,
removing an old leaf or the discovery of a new spike are just a few examples of the
things you can record in the Journal.

actual Journal entry from the Author's collection.

If you find yourself making the same Journal entries repeatedly you can set up a
Predefined Journal Entry. This lets you enter the same item but without the need to
retype the same thing! You can create your own predefined entries or use the ones
the system comes with.

When you click the 'Use Predefined Journal Entry' button a window appears listing
the system's preset entries at the top and your predefined entries below. Click the
entry you want to use, click the 'Choose' button, and the Journal Entry is made for
you.
Click the thumbnail to see the full-sized image of the predefined journal entry window from the Author's collection.

Another exciting feature of the Journal is the 'Journalize Status Change' button.
Use this button when you change the status of a plant to keep a history of the
plant's status over time. Some status changes will trigger additional actions by
Cattleya-Log. For example, if you change the status of a plant to 'SPIKE',
Cattleya-Log will offer to create a 'Bloom History' entry for you. Changing the
status to 'BUD' or 'BLOOM' will offer to update any open Bloom History entries with
the current date, and changing the status from 'BLOOM' to anything else will offer
to close any outstanding Bloom History entries for that plant!
