   Frequently Asked questions
Q: Can I use Cattleya-Log with a Mac?

A:

If you can run other Microsoft Windows programs on your Mac, then Cattleya-Log should run.  Download the FREE DEMO and find out! There are no plans for a Mac-specific version of Cattleya-Log at this time.

Q: Do I NEED to purchase a CD-ROM of Cattleya-Log?

A:

No. If you want to have a CD-ROM with the program on it, you can simply download the software and burn your own CD. If you want to have a nice case and a labeled CD of Cattleya-Log for yourself or someone else, then you will want to order a CD.

Q: I have moved on to a new computer. Do I have to purchase Cattleya-Log again?
A: No. Your registration code is good for life. Simply install the program onto the new computer using your CD or download from cattleyalog.com the link for NEW USERS. That is the only download file that will install the necessary files to run the program on your new computer. Once that is done and you have tested that the program runs on your new computer, see 'How do I move my files to my new computer?' below.

Q: How do I move my files to my new computer?
A: After you have installed the software on your new computer and verified that it runs (see previous question) you will want to move some files from your old computer. First, copy the c:\cattleya-Log\c-log.ini and c:\cattleya-log\data\orchids.mdb files from your old computer, and replace the ones on your new computer with the backed up files. These hold your registration information, preferences, and your data.

If you have stored images in your plant records, you should also copy all of your image files from the old computer and put them into a folder on your new computer that has the same path as that of your old computer. That is to say, if they are in c:\cattleya-log\pictures on the old computer, then they need to be in c:\cattleya-log\pictures on the new computer also.

Q: When I installed Cattleya-Log, there are some plant records in there already? Can I delete them?
A: Yes. You can delete them without harming the program. Simply click the desired plant on the index then click the Delete button. Cattleya-Log will ask you to confirm.

Q: I only have 9 or 10 plants. Do I need to purchase Cattleya-Log?
A: No. The shareware version of Cattleya-Log will work indefinitiely without being registered. However, it will only allow you to enter up to 10 plants. If you have only 10 plants or less, Cattleya-Log is our gift to you to help you with your budding hobby. Enjoy!
